The Upsilon Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® will be awarding scholarships to five qualified applicants in the amount of $1000.  It will presented to awardees that will attend a 4-year College or University in the Fall of 2026. To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must meet the scholarship criteria and follow the application procedures. Strong consideration is given to those individuals that express a financial need and a commitment to the community.  Please share the link to the Scholarship Application Form with students who may be interested in applying.

 

Scholarship Criteria:

  1. An African-American male or female
  2. A current high school senior.
  3. Resident of the Nashville Metropolitan Area (includes Davidson County and surrounding counties in Middle Tennessee)
  4. Been accepted AND plan to attend a 4-year college or university in the Fall of 2026 (evidence of matriculation will be required from awardees)
  5. Active in school, church, and/or community
  6. 2.8 cumulative grade point average or higher

 

Application Components:

  1. Submit 2 letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a school official. (Must be signed and saved as a PDF file)
  2. Submit a complete application form and answer all questions.
  3. Provide an official transcript – Send this link (https://tinyurl.com/TRANSCRIPTform2026) to your school counselor for upload of a digital copy of your transcript. It must be submitted by a school official, not by the applicant. 
  4. Provide a copy of your acceptance letter to a 4-year college or university, if available.
  5. Provide a one-page essay describing your community involvement, academic goals, and why you should be considered for this scholarship.
  6. Submit your completed application by 11:59 p.m on May 1, 2026.

COMPLETED FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 11:59PM on May 1, 2026.

  • The recipients and other applicants will be notified via email.
  • Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • Immediate family members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc® members are NOT eligible to apply, even if not a member of UPO.
